End of the two-year extension of post-study work rights

The extended 2-year post-study work (subclass 485) visa offered to international graduates with select degrees will no longer be available from mid-2024.

The Department of Home Affairs has noted that there is currently no set date for when the two-year extension will cease but they will update their website when further information becomes available.

If you already hold a Post-Study Work subclass 485 visa, contact us for assistance for an extension before mid-2024.

ACS Navigating IT Migration in Australia

The ACS Skilled Journeys: Navigating IT Migration in Australia Report is a new study by ACS which explores migration and employment outcomes from technology sector workers who arrived in Australia since 2017.

Key findings from the report:

  • Skilled ICT migrants have high employment rates in Australia, with over 90% finding jobs and 80% within the IT sector
  • Regional Australia is benefiting from the changes to visa rules implemented in 2019: 36% said they were residing outside of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane up from only 18% in 2017
  • 83% said migrating to Australia was a good decision, 73% would encourage others to migrate
