Walid manages our team undertaking protection claims internationally, including Appeals by Refugees in PNG for USA resettlement.Previously he was part of the Playfair family working in our Australian Government Contract to provide assistance to the PNG government, specifically legal aid toa sylum seekers requesting Refugee Status Determination; then in Victoria in a permanent role, managing our Humanitarian program and Judicial Review matters.
Walid attended the University of South Australia in Adelaide and participated in a European exchange programme at the European Business School for Business and Law in Germany. After obtaining his Bachelor of Laws and International Relations, Walid moved to Victoria and was admitted as a solicitor in Victoria in 2014.
Walid was born and raised in Australia, but his Afghani heritage fuelled his love for the Afghan musical instrument Rhubab and a passion for ethnomusicology. One of the most remarkable features of Walid is his ability to connect with our clients. He is a true linguist, fluent in English, Pashto, Dari and Hazaraghi and he even speaks a bit of Farsi. His customer service level is impeccable, and our clients appreciate his perseverance and his detailed legal knowledge.
